Middlesborough and Stockton Mind partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support to explore people’s experiences of being affected by cancer whilst also living with a mental health condition.
They know that coping with cancer is hard enough but can feel almost impossible if you’re struggling with your mental health too. They wanted to find a way to support people along their journey, simplifying the process and helping them to keep on top of important information. So, they talked to and involved people who have experience of living with a mental health condition and being affected by cancer and then developed ‘Passport to My Health and Wellbeing’.
It’s a simple but effective document that helps people who are living with cancer and a mental health condition to describe what they need from health professionals, to make life easier for them. It’s also a diary for appointments, a record card for vital details and a log for thoughts and questions.
