SID - Social inclusion and dyslexia
A project which supports people who experience social exclusion as a result of their dyslexia. We offer Tailored support to understand dyslexia, Coping strategies to overcome barriers, Improving literacy skills using assistive technology and Multiagency working with other agencies to find the right support.
We offer group workshops that cover:
- Dyslexia awareness
- Confidence building
- Coping strategies to overcome barriers getting into work
- Learning assistive technologies and how they can be used to overcome literacy barriers
We strive to empower people with confidence and tools to overcome the barriers they experience with dyslexia and reduce social exclusion. We also aim to work with local agencies and organisations in highlighting the barriers associated with dyslexia and how they can support people with awareness and the use of technology.
Assistive technology such as text to speech and speech to text does not have to be expensive and can be accessed in various ways free of charge.
