My Sisters' Kitchen

My Sisters’ Kitchen is a stand-alone social enterprise, commercially trading, community kitchen, bakery and training facility. Our mid to long term plans include our social enterprise being further developed into a larger Community Food Project including Café/Deli using ingredients from Fareshare and other food waste schemes.

The mission of My Sisters’ Kitchen is to provide training, employment and sense of belonging to some of the most disadvantaged women in Sunderland. We work alongside women who live with ‘multiple disadvantage’, women experiencing domestic abuse are more than likely experiencing other forms of social and economic disadvantage such as poverty, unemployment, crime, poor mental health, and those leaving care. We work with these women for as long as they need our support, offering a safe space as they overcome barriers from lack of opportunity and social exclusion, preparation for employment, and guidance in building towards a positive future.

We have been awarded National Lottery funding to run the 10 week Bake Shed project to women citywide.

The course is aimed at women who are looking to gain confidence, improve self-esteem, and develop employability skills. It will take place during term time from April, 2 days a week (10am to 2pm) and is at the COOP Centre, SR2 8AH. We can help with bus fare.

Men’s Pie Club is a weekly social activity for men living citywide which takes place each Friday 1-3pm. Men need to register their interest via the website on the flyer as spaces are limited. https://www.menspieclub.co.uk

Bags of Taste are looking for volunteers to help us mentor 90 home cooking students during 2023. https://bagsoftaste.org/

https://bouncebackfood.co.uk/ will take up space in our community kitchen each Wednesday and Thursday from end March.
