Community Opportunities
Community Opportunities (formerly Sunderland North Community Business Centre (SNCBC)) has delivered Community Services across the City Of Sunderland for over 30 years, with centres located in Albany, Thorney Close, Shiney Row, Town End Farm and Hylton Castle.
Our Employment Services are MATRIX accredited, we can help with applying for Universal Credit, compiling CVs, job-search, skills training, learning and volunteering and applying for suitable jobs. We also offer recruitment services for local employers and aim to ‘Link Local People to Local Jobs’.
In addition to employability and skills support, we deliver healthy lifestyle activities, family support, community development, events, and volunteering work. We also provide a range of services for children and young people, including youth services and OFSTED-approved childcare.
We work with over 2,000 customers annually, offering a ‘no wrong door’ to access and align our services. Working in this way enables local people to access additional support available, which can help address problems and enable progress towards having a better future for themselves and their families.
Across all services our staff are suitably qualified, passionate about their roles and possess a belief that they can make a real difference to the lives of local people.
Most recently, we have moved into Heritage and manage heritage sites at Bowes Railway at Springwell Village, Fulwell Windmill and the restored Hylton Castle in the North Of Sunderland. Our involvement in Heritage bringing new approaches to offer a range of unique volunteering opportunities, in which local people can become involved, benefiting their local community.
