Let’s Talk Sunderland!

Let’s Talk Sunderland

Sunderland City Council gather feedback from local communities in lots of different and often inconsistent ways, whether that’s face to face, over the phone or online. But they know this doesn’t always reach the right service or partner. Residents are speaking but they are not actively listening. Through their Let’s Talk Sunderland campaign they want to directly involve local residents and communities in making Sunderland a great place to live with the power to influence matters that affect them.

Get talking

Sunderland City Council will be holding conversations in your area that will be both focused and purposeful that they would like you to get involved in. You can join a conversation in your area at the following times and locations

  • Coalfield – Wednesday 4th December, 5.30 – 7.30pm, Bethany Centre, Houghton le Spring
  • East – Thursday, 21st November, 1-3pm, Bethany City Church, Bede Tower,
  • North – Thursday 5th December, 5.30pm to 7.30pm, Southwick Community Centre, Southwick Road,
  • West – Monday 2nd December, 4.30-6.30pm, Farringdon Youth and Community Centre, Allendale Road
  • Washington – Tuesday 26th November, 5pm – 7pm, Washington Millennium Centre, Concord

Alternatively, if you are unable to attend one of the above events, you can let Sunderland City Council know you views online.

Why?

Let’s Talk Sunderland follows a restructure of the council in April to align their resources more to how they deliver services to residents. They will use local views to shape neighbourhoods across the city through the production of individual Neighbourhood Investment Plans for Sunderland’s five areas – East, West, North, Coalfields and Washington – as well as reviewing how services are delivered across local communities to ensure they are fit for purpose and efficient. Your views will feed directly into these plans.

The Neighbourhood Investment Plans will be launched in 2020 following public consultation. The plans will be tracked and regular progress updates will be shared.
