Free School lunch support during Summer Holidays 2020
During to 2020 Summer Holidays The Government will be supporting 1.3 million children in England with a continued free school lunch from its Covid Summer Food Fund. Depending on where you live, you will either; receive a shopping voucher (worth £15 per week per eligible child) which can be redeemed in supermarkets, be able to collect a food parcel/packed lunch, or have one delivered from a local organisation. Organisations from across our communities are working together to help deliver this support, please see below for information on what is available in your area and how to access it, with more information being added as it becomes available:
Washington
Washington Community Food Project is proud to be joining local churches and voluntary organisations, or provide free packed lunches to any Primary School aged child, during the school holidays. There is no requirement for a referral to the foodbank, the scheme is open to all. Extra snacks will be available from our main outlet at Unit O, opposite Virgin Money in the Galleries. Lunches are available for collection only from:

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30am until 12:30pm - Oxclose Church, Oxclose, NE38 0LA from 20th July
Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30am until 1pm - Washington Mind, The Life House, Columbia, NE387LP from 21st July

South Shields
The KEY2Life food bank has secured money from Feeding Britain which will be used to make around 1,000 picnics while the Council has produced a new booklet highlighting family-friendly walks around the Borough where families can enjoy their food. The booklet features walks around South Tyneside which take in areas as such South Shields sea front, Whitburn, Boldon Colliery, Hebburn and Jarrow. The free picnics must be ordered by phone on 07833 613 393 or via the KEY2Life Facebook 24hours beforehand and can be collected from the KEY2Life food Bank at Boldon Lane Library, Boldon Lane, South Shields, NE34 0LZ, or can be delivered if required.
