What is a Recovery College?

There are several Recovery Colleges running all across the country and a new one is about to start up in South Tyneside but what is a recovery college? Recovery Colleges offer educational courses and training programmes about wellbeing, mental health and recovery which are designed to increase knowledge and skills and to help people to feel more confident in self-management of their own mental health and wellbeing.

When is South Tyneside Recovery College starting?

The most important thing about a Recovery College is that it is built around the people who want to use it, with courses, activities and information about the right things, in the right way and at the right time. Before South Tyneside Recovery College launches they want to hear about your ideas and to find out what you think about theirs. Please call in to one of their open sessions at Action Station, Boldon Lane, South Shields, NE34 0LY to find out more:

  • 5th October 10am-2pm
  • 8th October 10am-12pm
  • 9th October 2pm-4pm

The Launch Day for the Recovery College is Friday 12 October from 10am to 3pm. If you want more information, please telephone Moving Forward: on 0191 427 0011 or email STRecoveryCollege@mentalhealthconcern.org
