Recognising Anxiety

Although there is no precise definition of anxiety, most people recognise they are feeling anxious because they experience a number of physical, emotional and mental changes. These will vary from person to person but may include:

  • Feeling worried all the time
  • Tiredness
  • Irritability
  • Inability to sleep
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Racing heartbeat
  • Sweating
  • Muscle tension and pains
  • Shaking
  • Breathing heavily
  • Feeling dizzy or faint
  • Indigestion or diarrhoea
