What is the Ladders Programme?

The FREE Ladders Programme is part-time and aimed at helping 18-24 year olds like you, get a foot in the door. Over the 12 weeks of the programme, you’ll be working with an industry mentor to develop your skills in either film, music or software development. You’ll learn valuable employability skills, develop your CV, visit local companies, and build that all-important network. Remember, this isn’t a test. You won’t be marked and you won’t be graded. It’s about developing your skills and learning what you need, when you need it.

Ladders is designed to be as accessible as possible and we don’t want you to be out of pocket, so travel bursaries are available for all sessions. We also encourage you to look for any relevant events out there and we’ll pay for your ticket or transport. You must keep receipts though, or we can’t reimburse you. And even better, if you achieve 85% attendance over the Ladders course, you will be eligible to apply for a bursary of up to £500 for use on equipment, training, or anything else to help you on your way.

What will happen over the 12 weeks?

You and nine others will spend 12 weeks on your part time creative course. For the first six weeks, you’ll be developing your practical and technical skills in your chosen subject. In the final six weeks, you’ll be developing a project of your choice, this won’t be marked and it doesn’t need to be finished. Throughout the 12 weeks, will be a series of employability workshops, aimed at developing your CV, communication skills, interview technique and collaborative working ability, among other skills integral to employment. At the end of the programme, you’ll present your project in a final showcase.
